A poem by Zoe

I am from bright skies,
sunny quiet days.
I am from a town of progress and respect.
I am from doctors and nurses.
I am from the southeast,
where people smile and gleam.
I am from dedication and discipline
People salute when they introduce themselves.
I am from cold nights and humid weather during the day.
I am from national parks,
with people always greeting each other as they pass.
The sun is so bright,
people hardly use electricity or light.
It hardly snows, like summer all year long.
I am from red and white.
I am from "Roll Tide"
I am from Alabama.

One of my goals on this website is to showcase student work, so here is the first of many! Students wrote "I am from..." poetry which is part of a public portrait that will be displayed on their lockers all year. Above is one example that impressed me.
